This one from Hyundai has a lot of optimism, big words and bold claims.

Hey Hyundai, how about putting your money where your mouth is?

Give it three years when N Performance has had headway, and when the regs have changed again. Mostly the regs. LMP1 is on a spending war, and any new player will have to wait for any major breakdown in the landscape before they do a campaign, and even then VAG can just focus on Porsche.

Then there’s DPi, which, while still a kerfuffle, might be a better alternative.

Either way, Hyundai has to get their N division street cred before they make a push for another top-flight series. Best to stay in WRC for now and take advantage of a faltering VW team.

What, you telling me you don’t think the Chaparral 2X could happen?

I had actually forgotten that Hyundai even made a VGT car, let alone a futuristic LMP1. Visually reminds me a lot of the Mazda VGT. Of course propulsion method is pretty inconsequential in a video game though.

DPi is the IndyCar of sports cars. You’re not going to see any technical advancements. Everything will be developed with costs in mind. There will be no hydrogen-powered prototypes in DPi.

If Hyundai wants to develop new tech, LMP1 or Garage 56 are the only real routes. But if they just want to go racing and plaster their logo on something, I do think you’re right that DPi might be the better choice.

Three letters. Hcd. the perfect concept car for a guy in his teens followed by multiple other concepts that never saw the light of day. They’ve been schlepping this bs around for 20+ years and this stupid cgi commercial drove me to let out my hostility.
